CDO Homecoming: Dorados Win and Color Guard Takes First Place!
Fall is finally here, and there is no better mark of the fall than football season being in full swing! When it comes to high school football, nothing has a tendency to bring out the best in a team quite like the big homecoming game. The Game: CDO Dorados vs. Peoria
This rang true this past friday as the CDO Dorados held their homecoming game against Peoria, and what a game it was! Both offenses were stymied in a scoreless first quarter, however that just made the offensive fireworks in the second quarter all the more exciting.CDO's junior QB Caden Dawes opened things up in the second with 1 of his 2 touchdown passes and feeling the pressure, Peoria answered right back with a long touchdown of their own. As the quarter went on CDO proceeded to rely heavily on their run game and sophomore running back Kayden Luke, who recorded the games next touchdown, his first of three friday night.
Not to be outdone, Peoria scored on the ensuing kickoff, a zig-zagging 84 yard return, tying the game 14-14. That would prove to be the closest the game got, as CDO pulled away in the second half, resulting in a final score of 35-21. CDO is now on a 3-game win streak, welcome home indeed!
Halftime and Competition Glory
Half time however proved to be a spectacle in itself as the band and color guard performed an amazing routine. The color guards work didn't end friday night either, as they had a competition in Phoenix on saturday and made us all proud, earning the high auxiliary caption, as well as first place overall in the competition.Of course no homecoming would be complete without the coronation of homecoming King and Queen, this year the honors went to Caden Sholl, and Maisy McDole respectively, capping off a night to remember!
